What we do
Sourcing components for ageing Rolling Stock is an ongoing problem for train operators. In some cases tooling is no longer available, and drawings may not exist. Continuum Rail are able to support you with your obsolescence issues, bringing parts back into the supply chain and ensuring the supply of previously obsolete parts for the remaining life of the fleet. By using both traditional and advanced manufacturing techniques we are able to provide cost effective solutions for small quantities of parts if required.
With our storage facilities, Continuum Rail are able to stock parts on behalf of customers where parts are required in phased deliveries, or on call-off contracts. This allows fleet engineers to directly order parts on short lead times with order cover already in place. Supporting the customer with pre-assembly, kitting and installation if required, Continuum Rail aim to take the hardship out of obsolescence.

Obsolescence
Continuum Rail are experts at sourcing a wide range of obsolete rolling stock components—including mouldings, fabrications, and 3D-printed parts. All components are fully compliant with relevant Railway Group Standards, with testing carried out as required. Leveraging advanced reverse engineering capabilities, Continuum Rail can identify and supply nearly any moulded, machined, fabricated or 3D Printed part to meet your needs.
Low volume
In many cases of obsolescence, original components were manufactured in large volumes, often hundreds or thousands, making it cost-effective to invest in tooling. However, when trains are nearing the end of their operational life, the demand for replacement parts can drop to as few as 10 units. Continuum Rail specialises in providing low-volume, cost-effective component solutions tailored to the remaining service life of your fleet and your specific requirements.
Parts stocking

With call-off contracts in place, your engineers can request parts directly from Continuum Rail, enabling a fast turnaround and ensuring critical spares are delivered exactly when needed.
