Where parts are not all required in a single batch, Continuum Rail are able to stock parts against a call off contract. This allows the operational engineers to order parts in whatever quantity required, as they are needed. Collaborating with the customer upfront around parts usage enables Continuum Rail to manufacture and stock sufficient parts to provide the customer with next day delivery in most cases where the stocking service has been utilised.
In many cases, drawings for existing parts are no longer available. Continuum Rail work with our established Reverse Engineering partner to produce 3D models from existing parts. With 3D models and drawings produced this ensures that the parts supply is restarted in unlimited quantities based upon the requirements of the customer.
With moulded parts in particular, tooling costs can be high and when ammortised over low volume parts this can significantly increase the individual parts cost. Continuum Rail are able to look at cost effective tooling solutions (utilising 3D printed moulds where required) which can make parts cost effective from quantities as low as 5.
Where a customer is able to predict and commit to parts usage over an extended period of time, this allows Continuum Rail to source/produce a higher quantity of parts in some cases, therefore reducing the unit cost when compared to multiple low batch quantities supplied separately.
